Telling human stories that drive social change.
Meet Talia
Born and raised in London, England, Talia is a former professional ballroom dancer and figure skater. Talia's commitment and discipline led her to compete internationally and become a Rising Star U.S. Champion. She moved to New York in 2014, where she spent nearly ten years competing while teaching and choreographing for dancers of all ages and levels. Her ability to communicate and break down complex choreography into bite-sized steps earned her students’ trust as an award-winning ballroom dance instructor.
In the pandemic, Talia made a long-anticipated career shift, pursuing an M.A. in journalism at NYU. She graduated from the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program in December 2023, having already established herself as a freelance culture writer breaking stories for Slate, publishing features and profiles in The Daily Beast, and completing an internship with New York local news publication, Gotham Gazette. Since graduating she has written for The Atlantic, New York Magazine’s The Cut, and The Guardian among others.
Personally and professionally, Talia is deeply interested in how human bodies become sites of societal control and power; in the intersection of art, sports and politics. She cannot wait to take the next steps post-graduation and would love for you to reach out with story ideas.
